 50 Year Anniversary 1967 - 2017

Save the Dates:  Parish Cookouts and Picnic
Our next Cookout is August 20th from 2 - 4 p.m. and the Parish Picnic is September  17th from 2 - 6 p.m.  The Knights of Columbus will grill hotdogs and hamburgers and drinks will be provided.  Please bring a dish to share

The Parish will be taking an Anniversary Pilgrimage to the Marian Shrines of Portugal, Spain and France from November 6 - 16th.  Please contact Anne-Marie Pierce at 703-971-8541 or for more details.

Registration is now open for Religious Education classes for 2017-2018.  Forms are available online (click here), or in the Church, Religious Education Office and the Rectory.  A late fee applies after August 1.   All new students must provide a Baptism Certificate if they were not Baptized at St. Lawrence Church.

Volunteers are needed to help in the Religious Education program.  Especially needed are Prayer Angels who, like the Angel at Fatima, teach CCD children their prayers.  Volunteer for Monday or Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.  You do not need to come every day.  If you can help, please call Anne Marie Pierce, Director of Religious Education, at 703-971-8541 or email





Baby Cradle (Pro-Life)
ONGOING: A cradle is set up in the vestibule of the Church for dropping off baby items and maternity clothes.  If you have large baby items, please call Judy Hechinger at (703) 598-2353 to arrange delivery.  Items are donated to crisis pregnancy centers.

SHARE Sunday (CCW Sponsored)  MONTHLY: Koinonia is our outreach in Christ's name to neighbors in need, right here in the local communities of Franconia, East Springfield, Kingstowne, and Newington.  Koinonia provides free of charge: food, clothing, household items, emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities and prescriptions, counseling, referral to government and other sources, and Christmas support to families (clothing, food, and gifts).  Koinonia provides services without government support, it depends solely on donations from churches, individuals and other local community organizations.  SHARE Sunday is held on the THIRD Sunday of the month. For more information please contact the Parish Office or  CCW.

ANNUAL Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession

Respect for Life Committee - Promotes the Catholic teachings on human life by way of supporting the Arlington Diocese Pro-Life organizations such as Project Gabriel and Rachel and crisis pregnancy centers, and organized ANNUALLY transportation to the "March for Life" each January and organizes ANNUALLY the "Life Chain" a public witness to the sanctity of human life held on "Respect Life" Sunday in October.  Thousands of people line the streets of their community, communicating the importance of each human life.  For more information, contact  Betty Ann Dateno (703) 971-3556 or Bruce Borzino (703) 541-2801.

Also ANNUALLY, on "Respect Life" Sunday, is the drawing for the Pro-Life Quilt.  Previously collected proceeds for tickets for this raffle are donated to a Pro-Life Cause.  All Parishioners are welcome to join in to make the quilt and support this cause; you don't need to know how to sew... there are many other opportunities to participate.
